SUPERVISOR JAIME DE LA CRUZ
Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz has distinguished himself as one of San Benito County’s most active political leaders and a tireless advocate for the needs of the residents of District 5.
In addition to serving as District 5 Supervisor since 2005, Jaime served from 2002 to 2005 as a Member of the Gavilan College Board of Trustees and from 2000 to 2004 as a Director of the San Benito County Water District. In addition, he has served as Chair of the Planning Commission for the City of Hollister, Member of the Hollister Parks and Recreation Commission, and President and CEO of the San Benito Health Foundation Board of Directors. He is a member of the Local Agency Formation Commission ( LAFCO ), a Director of the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments ( AMBAG ), Chair of the San Benito County Veterans Commission, and Chair of the San Benito County Water Resource Association.
Strongly committed to the strength and vitality of our local business community, Supervisor De La Cruz is a Member of the Hollister Downtown Association and the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce. He has served as President of the Mexican American Political Association and a Member of the Gavilan Employers Advisory Council.
Creating educational, recreational, and job opportunities for San Benito County’s youth is a central concern of Supervisor De La Cruz. He was President and Chair of the Calaveras School Site Council, President and Chair of the Southside Child Development Parent Association, Member of the San Benito County First Five Commission, and has been actively involved with the affairs of San Jose State University, Gavilan College, and has spent more than ten years coaching softball, baseball, and soccer for local teams.
Jaime De La Cruz and his wife Angelina have three children, James Willie(18), Adrian(13), and Brianna (10)
